Living with Water at the Museum of Architecture and Design (MAO) Ljubljana

The exhibition ‘Living with Water – The Southern Fringe of Ljubljana’ was part of the Future Architecture Platform programming. Together they constituted the final act of the Living with Water project initiated by MAO director Matevž Čelik and kick-started with the opening of the Slovenian Pavilion at the 16th Venice International Architecture Biennale in 2018.

The exhibition looks at alternative urban development scenarios that consider the synergetic relationships between humankind and the natural environment, as rising sea levels and melting ice caps brings the issue of living with water to the fore, extending across both local conditions and global shifts alike.

Some Place Studio created the exhibition design based on the idea of a stream - a continuous presentation of the various exhibition elements. Keeping sustainability in mind, local and recycled materials were chosen wherever possible such as gray board framed by thin black metal for the hanging elements. The tables were designed to reference Slovenian water resources in both shape and materiality.
