Soft Kitchen is all about the interplay of sculptural and functional elements: The modernist style of the new-build apartment in Berlin Mitte becomes the starting point for a design that simultaneously picks up on and contrasts with the existing architecture. Goal of the remodeling was to open up the kitchen to the living and dining room and to visually connect the different areas in the open floor plan. In addition to the kitchen design, Some Place Studio was also commissioned to design a large table for the dining area that picks up on the sculptural kitchen volumes in both material and form. The result is a curvaceous tabletop made of ash wood, asymmetrically curved columns covered with microcement.
