Founder and Principal
Bika Rebek
Bika Rebek’s practice explores how technology, materiality and processes in architecture can be rethought for social and environmental impact. Rebek is a registered architect with the Architektenkammer Berlin educator and the founder and principal of the architectural design firm Some Place Studio. Rebek has taught design studios and seminars and lectured widely, most recently at Columbia GSAPP, Yale University, the Spitzer School of Architecture and Node curatorial platform.
Rebek has worked with a number of international institutions, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna. Through Some Place Studio, she has worked with clients such as Campari, Accenture, Samsung, Sagmeister & Walsh and BAM Berlin. She co-authored and designed the Slovenian pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2018.
She is the co-founder of Hot Air, a nomadic architecture space in downtown Manhattan that provides an alternative platform to the traditional institutions of New York City. Her work has been featured in the Guardian, Metropolis Magazine, Domus, E-flux, Elle Decor Italia and AD Germany amongst others. She holds a diploma from the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and a Masters in Critical, Curatorial and Conceptual Practice from Columbia University.

Sophie Schaffer
Sophie Schaffer (she/her) is an architect and designer based in Vienna and Berlin. She holds a Master’s degree in architecture from the Vienna University of Technology and has pursued further studies at the Politecnico di Milano and Università Federico II in Naples, Italy. Sophie’s interest lies in exploring futuristic domestic spaces, utilizing architecture, scenography, and exhibition design to translate critical topics into spatial frameworks. In 2020, she co-founded Studio z00, a research collective focused on the intersection of space-making and culture.
