Sonnenhaus

The project integrates nature deeply into its concept, both ecologically and formally. The building is gently embedded in the landscape through openings and stepping, so that it dissolves from its built structure into its natural surroundings. This flowing transition from structure to nature is also reflected in the transition from existing to contemporary elements. The outer walls are retained and preserve the original outline of the building, while modern, natural materials and forms integrate a contemporary aspect.

The demolished materials are also to be reinterpreted and used in the spirit of sustainability. One side of the building retains its original rustic character, while the other is transformed, so the transition from inside to outside is deliberately curated in stages. The special views in all directions are captured through various openings and layering of the building. The relationship between people and their natural surroundings is reinforced by these different levels. The fusion of the various organisms within the architecture is thus revealed in many different aspects.
