A creative couple who frequently hosts international music artists and visiting family needed an additional bedroom and more storage in their loft attic apartment. The solution is a compact multifunctional platform above the entrance door that combines sleeping storage and circulation in a single architectural element.
The design is based on three simple ground level forms triangle box and line which support a flowing platform above. A rectangular wardrobe provides storage for coats and shoes in the narrow entrance area while a triangular volume integrates a staircase with additional storage and small open shelves for everyday items. A slim powder coated column keeps the structure visually light and maintains open views across the loft.
The stairs lead to a raised nook that can be used as a bedroom or play area. A translucent mesh railing allows light through while providing privacy and is tensioned with steel cables anchored to floor and ceiling. A soft wave like back panel and a custom side table complete the sleeping area. A balanced palette of yellow and blue together with contrasting materials creates a calm but playful atmosphere. The intervention adds new functions to the loft and turns it into a flexible space for sleeping, hosting storage and everyday living.
